October 07 2009 - Slim/4 technology: production of 4 mm porcelain stoneware slabs and tiles
The constant drive for research and technological innovation that distinguished Florim from the beginning are part of its history, and identify Florim as a leading company in the ceramic sector.
Continuing along this tradition, Florim recently presented the SLIM/4 project, the new 4 mm thin porcelain stoneware slabs.
The production technology was developed in our own plants and is completely different from any other. The slabs are obtained by pressing: the result is a product that is highly resistant to stress, requires no reinforcing fibres and eliminates material tensioning and laying grip problems, making the cutting, drilling and cleaning operations easy.
The production technology makes it possible to use the same graphics and raw materials used for the collections with traditional thickness. The tiles have given excellent results in all the tests carried out.
SLIM/4 is a product for floors and walls, particularly suitable for renovation works requiring installation over existing materials. The reduced thickness, lighter weight, easy transportation and handling make SLIM/4 the best response to the new requirements of the market.
The advantages of this new material are many:
- eliminates the need to demolish existing installations;
- reduces intervention times and therefore costs;
- has technical features similar to those of traditional thickness slabs;
- applies a smaller weight on bearing structures and floors;
- easy to clean and requires no maintenance.
For further information on the Slim/4 technology of the thin tiles, it is possible to view the videos of the Rex, Floor Gres and Casa dolce casa collections: Slim/4 produced videos
