The Florim managers have promoted an important solidarity initiative: in fact, they have decided to devolve 10% of their salary into a fund purposely constituted and aimed at their colleagues, greatly affected by the Redundancy pay procedures. The adherence to this initiative, started with the February 2009 wages and envisioned to end with the December 2009 wages (including year-end bonus), is on a voluntary basis and had the immediate consent of all 23 managers.
In addition, the Board of Directors that, back in November 2008, had already reduced their own fees by 20%, committed to integrate the solidarity fund with further resources, in order to increase the endowment available and bring it to a total amount of approximately half a million euros. The entirety of the resources in this way collected will be fully destined to integrate the minimum wages of the workers receiving Wages Guarantee Fund, (in particular, WGF at zero hours for a whole month).
This initiative, still unique within the ceramic sector, has allowed to give concrete support to a large number of workers and for this reason it will continue during 2010 also, showing the commitment of the Florim managers and the company to give a tangible help to the families having greater difficulties and in promoting initiatives inspired by social responsibility values.
In a world-wide scenario, where a situation of uncertainty lingers, choices like this one certainly have a positive impact on the local community and, if taken as example and stimulation, they allow to look at the future with renewed trust.
The initiative has had wide coverage by the local and national press. Below is a list of some of the large number of articles on the subject.
The Solidarity Project was also spoken of during the television program "Cominciamo bene...estate" broadcast on RAI 3 on Friday 11th September 2009.
